EastEnders’ Gary Webster reveals wife Wendy was rushed to hospital with Covid-19

Gary Webster has revealed his wife was rushed to hospital with Covid-19.

The EastEnders star, 57, took to Twitter on Tuesday to thank the NHS after his wife Wendy Turner, 53, was treated at West Middlesex University Hospital for coronavirus, and confirmed she was ‘still poorly’ but is now back at home.

Gary also thanks fans for their support over recent weeks, following the loss of his mother to the deadly virus.

Gary tweeted: ‘Thanks to all 4 support over last weeks. Losing my Mum to Covid-19 & then my wife @turnerwebster being admitted to hospital with Covid-19 pneumonia has been very tough. Thanks to all at @WestMidHospital 4 their life saving work.

‘Wendy still poorly but thankfully home. We [love] NHS.’ 

It comes after the Minder actor shared that his mother had passed away ‘peacefully in her sleep’ on January 10, four days after contracting Covid.

Gary also revealed that he was battling the virus alongside his son, Jack, 20. He also has younger son – Freddie, 17, with wife and former prime-time TV presenter, Wendy.

Gary lost his mum to Covid-19, and tweeted at the time: ‘Thank you so much to everyone for such beautiful support to my son and I as we recover from Covid. 

‘Last Sunday my mum also contracted the virus. 3 generations in a week. I am devastated to say my mum didn’t make it & passed peacefully in her sleep last Thursday. She was much loved.’ 

A few days later, he added: ‘Words cannot express how overwhelmed we have been by the love & support we have been shown by friends & strangers alike as to our battles with Covid & the passing of my dear Mum. 

‘We have been deeply moved. It has meant so much at such a sad time for us all. Thank you.’

‘It’s been a very sad & tough week part of which was my eldest son testing Covid positive on Tuesday & me testing positive yesterday. So strictly isolating. Please #WearMasks #SocialDistance.’
