Beauty expert Chloe Morello reveals her simple hack to get a professional manicure at home

A beauty expert has revealed how you can get a professional-looking manicure at home with her simple nail hack.

Australian YouTuber Chloe Morello said the ‘genius’ trick for getting coloured tips at home works perfectly for short nails and is ‘so easy compared to freehand or using nail tape’.

To try Chloe’s hack for yourself, all you need is a base coat clear nail polish, the colour of your choice for the tip, some acetone, a lip brush and a top coat of nail varnish.

You can also add sparkle or glitter if you want to make your manicure look even more professional.

‘How genius is this nail hack? I saw it somewhere and knew I needed to try it for myself,’ Chloe posted on Instagram.

‘To try it for yourself, paint a little bit of base coat over the surface of your nail, and then paint some colour onto the top of your finger in a straight line.

‘After this, press it carefully onto the top of your nail so that you get a little French tip.’

Following this, Chloe said you should coat the entire surface of your nail with a top coat.

Then, you can ‘jazz’ up your manicure by adding gold foil or glitter over the top of an extra swipe of top coat.

Finish with a final top coat, taking care to go over your tip for ‘extra longevity’ and healthy nails.

You can also tidy up any mistakes using acetone on a lip brush.

1. Paint base coat over your nails one by one.

2. Paint some colour onto the top of your index finger in a straight line and press it carefully onto the top of a nail on your opposite hand so you get a little French tip.

3. Go through your nails one by one doing this and then apply a top coat to every single nail.

4. Swipe a little extra top coat over half of each nail and gently add gold foil or glitter.

5. Seal with a final top coat, taking care to go over your tips for ‘extra longevity’ and healthy nails.

6. You can tidy any mistakes using acetone on a lip brush.

‘100 per cent trying this at home next time, thanks for posting,’ another added.

Others said they would no longer fork out upwards of $60 for a French manicure at a nail salon.

‘I heard TikTok was going nuts for this mascara so I had to try it myself,’ Chloe, who now lives in Los Angeles, said in her Instagram video.

‘As you can see it has really short bristles so when I came from above, I could get right into the base of the lashes and it absolutely coated from the root to tip.

‘Coming from underneath, I got an eyeliner effect and they look a lot more voluminous. The mascara built up volume easily – very good so far. It’s easy to get a natural look for lower lashes with one coat.

‘So do I rate it? Absolutely, my lashes look so long, it was easy to position my lashes where I like them and it didn’t smudge or flake all day.’

If you smudge any formula on your eye lid, Chloe suggested waiting for the mascara to dry before using a spoolie wand to ‘flick it right off’.
