MAFS Cyrell Paule brings RACE into altercation with Jessika Power at Grand Reunion

Cyrell Paule has responded to backlash after she was criticised for throwing wine at rival Jessika Power, during the Married At First Sight Grand Reunion on Sunday night.

The feisty 31-year-old was quickly labelled an ’embarrassment’ and ‘appalling’ by viewers on Twitter, while Tracey Jewel labelled her actions ‘unacceptable’.

In an Instagram Story post after the show, Cyrell claimed that her negative portrayal is partly down to race, as ‘white’ Martha Kalifatidis received praise for her ‘iconic’ wine-throwing at the 2019 reunion episode.

‘So when a white woman throws wine it’s considered iconic, and she even gets a little show called “Martha’s red wine moments”,’ Cyrell began.

‘But when a woman of colour does it, it’s considered degrading, embarrassing, uneducated and a terrible example of a mother.

‘I wish I had that much support when it happened to me,’ she continued, referencing the 2019 reunion episode of MAFS when Martha hurled red wine at her.

Martha’s assault came after Cyrell had berated her ‘husband’ Michael Brunelli at the table, telling him, ‘When it comes to your wife, you have no balls’.

‘I’m getting up,’ said Martha, 32, to co-star Ines Basic while revealing her plan to pour the drink over Cyrell, after overhearing her ‘husband’ getting criticised.

Moments before this, Martha said: ‘If she keeps talking to Michael, I’m going to crawl across the table and gouge her eyes out.’

Meanwhile, in Cyrell’s Instagram Story post on Sunday, she stood by her accusation that Jessika, 29, had said her son Boston with Love Island star Eden Dally was just ‘a publicity stunt’.

‘Just remember, this woman for two years called my son a publicity stunt, mocked my appearance, mocked my relationship. Imagine my son growing up and seeing that, feeling that he was only created in this world for money and publicity,’ she wrote.

‘But I’m the bad guy. You will never know the feeling until you are a mother yourself!’

Jessika denied she ever said anything negative about their 10-month-old son Boston, but did admit to having called their romance fake.

An emotional Jessika broke down in tears, eventually storming off the set.

‘To be angry at me like that… because I’ve never once said a bad word about Cyrell and her son,’ Jessika said in between tears, in a piece-to-camera.

‘I feel disappointed and feel let down. Sorry. I didn’t buy in to the drama, and I walked away when I should’ve… when I normally would have reacted, and I’m proud of myself tonight,’ she continued.

Viewers flocked to Twitter, with many calling out Cyrell for her antics, branding it ‘immature’, ‘poor behaviour’, ’embarrassing’ and plain ‘bullying’.

Tracey Jewel also called out Cyrell on Sunday night’s show, saying that the way she handled herself is ‘unacceptable’.

It’s unacceptable to treat anyone the way she carried on tonight. And I don’t care what you’ve done to anyone. No-one deserves that.’

The Married At First Sight Grand Reunion continues Monday at 7.30pm on Nine
