Australian rock legend Daryl Braithwaite, 72, abruptly cancels concert as he’s hospitalised in Melbourne with a mystery illness

Daryl Braithwaite has been forced to cancel his concert in Victoria after being admitted to hospital.

The 72-year-old singer was due to perform with James Reyne at Mallacoota Oval for the Sounds Better Together gig.

However, Daryl had to cancel the show after he fell ill and was admitted to hospital, the Herald Sun reported.

The details regarding the Australian singer’s illness have not been revealed but his condition is reportedly not serious and isn’t coronavirus related.

Daryl said: ‘I’m incredibly sorry to cancel as I was really looking forward to returning to Mallacoota where I spent some time recently.’

‘I’m having a few days rest and will be back on track next week.’

It comes as Daryl is currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of his hit 1991 single The Horses.

In an interview with Today back in July, Daryl said he doesn’t get tired of performing his best known hit, The Horses.

‘That really hasn’t gone to sleep at all. It’s maintained and maybe gotten bigger,’ he said of the 1990 single.

But he admitted he now shortens his performance of the four-minute song after fellow musician James Reyne branded it ‘shameless’.

Back in February last year, Daryl delighted fans when he performed The Horses at Fire Fight 2020.

The singer was inducted into the ARIA Awards Hall Of Fame in 2017.
