Michael Strahan CONFIRMED to have COVID-19 by GMA co-hosts as they have been cleared to be on set

Michael Strahan has been confirmed to have COVID-19 by his Good Morning America co-hosts.

The 49-year-old television personality did not appear on the ABC news and talk show once again on Thursday morning but his on-camera team – led by Robin Roberts – made the announcement regarding his positive test on his behalf.

The 60-year-old broadcaster said: ‘We know that you have noticed that Michael has not been with us here this week. He wanted us to let you know that he tested positive for COVID. Hes at home quarantining right now.’

George Stephanopoulos and Amy Robach also joined Robin at the desk for the statement.

Stephanopoulos, 59, continued: ‘So many of you has asked about him, reached out to him. He says “thank you for the concern, very grateful for that and the well wishes.” He’s also feeling well and looking forward to being back here shortly.

‘And you should know that all of us here, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes have been cleared by Disney to be here after contract tracing following CDC guidelines.’

Robin said that she has been in constant contact with him throughout the process and that his beloved dog is the one who was keeping him company as she said: ‘Enzo is keeping him nice and warm but he is doing well.’

Robach, 47, also said that she has kept tabs on him as she joked: ‘I just said hurry back because I would like to set my alarm clock back an hour. That would be amazing. Alright Michael, we wish you the very best.

News broke of Strahan’s possible positive COVID-19 test the previous day.

He has been away from the ABC morning news and talk show set this week and has been self-quarantining.

Over the weekend, the television personality appeared remotely for his other gig on FOX NFL Sunday as they covered the NFC Championship game.

TMZ also reports that he is planning on appearing on GMA remotely on Thursday to discuss his diagnosis. He is currently not experiencing any severe symptoms.

Strahan is a father of 16-year-old twin daughters Isabella and Sophia and according to sources for the publication, he came into contact with them after he had been exposed and they are getting tested.

 As they primarily live with mother Jean Muggli, she is also getting tested too and all three have yet to receive their results according to the publication.

Strahan is also the father of his 28-year-old eldest daughter Tanita and Michael Strahan Jr., 25, from his marriage to Wanda Hutchins from 1992 to 1996.

The retired defensive end retired from the NFL in 2007 and broke record throughout his career, including the most sacks in a 16-game campaign in 2001. 

It did not take long for Strahan to jump into a new role as he began on FOX NFL Sunday the same year he retired and has been there for over 13 years.

He was such a natural talent on the sports show that he co-hosted Live! With Regis and Kelly in October 2010 when Regis was absent.

On April 19, 2015, ABC announced that he would be leaving Live! With Kelly And Michael to begin working full-time on GMA and has been there since. 

He is definitely giving Ryan Seacrest a run for his money when it comes to his gigs as he also hosts ABC primetime game show The $100,000 Pyramid.
