Luxury food store Fortnum & Mason has been mocked for selling pickled Brussels sprouts.
The pickled remnants of Britain’s most divisive vegetable are now on sale after Covid-19 ruined festivities for millions last month.
The retailer has slashed the price on its pickled sprouts from £9.95 to £7.45.
Its website said: ‘Deliciously crunchy and oh-so-British, we’re sure these glorious Pickled Brussels Sprouts will win over even the most ardent of sprout naysayers.
‘Enjoy alongside cheese and cold cuts for a festive, platter-perfect combination.’

However, shoppers were not so convinced by the festive food.
Nicola quipped: ‘I do hope you’re handing out free air fresheners with these.’
Kim said: ‘No Brussels sprouts are just wrong for the planet, cause more methane per person than a herd of cows.’
Unconvinced, Helen wrote: ‘Love sprouts. Pickled-gross.’

Cornelius asked: ‘Are they parboiled, or just pickled raw? I’m intrigued but slightly disturbed by them!’
Another critic added: ‘It’s going to be basically sauerkraut for a tenner.’
On Christmas Day, one Twitter user said: ‘I’ll explode after eating pickled Brussels sprouts I bought from Fortnum & Mason. At £9.95 the explosion better be worth it!’
Gareth wrote: ‘I’ve got to say, if Fortnum and Mason is selling it, it’s probably not awful, even if it’s a niche taste.
‘I probably don’t want to try it for £7.45, but I’d definitely try it.’
