Serena Williams dreams of traveling ‘safely again’ and launches luggage collection during pandemic

She’s a world famous tennis champion who has spent her life traveling the world to compete at the highest level. 

So it comes as no surprise that Serena Williams has nailed down the perfect way to travel and launched the second line of her luggage collection with Away.

The 39-year-old athlete admitted she dreams of traveling ‘safely again’ and hopes her new line helps inspire people to start planning their own future trips.

Williams channeled Parisian vibes as she sipped on an espresso overlooking a painting of the Eiffel Tower, in what appeared to be a backdrop set in her home.

She sported a maroon sweater with billowing sleeves and a khaki skirt, with a creamy beret completing her chic ensemble.

Serena appeared to be daydreaming of her next big adventure while patiently leaning against her marble kitchen island which had been transformed into a bustling cafe in the city. 

Serena shared the same hopes as her fans and followers wanting to get back out on the open road, as much of the country has been in and out of lockdown through the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

‘Like so many, I’ve been dreaming of being able to travel again safely, so I wanted to bring to life a collection that not only speaks to Away’s functionality and my personal style but also gets people really excited about their own future trips,’ she said. 

She told Forbes that creating her second line came naturally as she used inspiration from her travels to create something special.

‘I was really inspired by the colors and architecture I’ve seen while traveling — specifically, the beautiful blues and greens of the ocean and the intricate details of buildings in some of my favorite cities, like Rome,’ she said. 

‘I used these inspirations when working with the Away team to create this collection’s exterior print.’ 

The Away x Serena Williams collection features a line of custom polycarbonate suitcases, bags and accessories, including the Kid’s Carry-On, Packing Cubes, The Pet Carrier, and several new silhouettes for The Convertible Backpack Tote and The Jewelry Sleeve.
