One-year-old boy born with a full head of thick hair has a daily blow dry

A baby boy who was unexpectedly born with a full head of thick hair has to be given a blow dry every single day to tame his luscious locks.

Little Reign Butler, 15 months, from Rochdale, Manchester, left midwives gobsmacked when he was born at 36 weeks old with an impressively thick mop.

His mother Vicky, 33, explained that Reign’s luscious locks came as quite the surprise, compared to her first son Roman, now six, who was born completely bald and premature at 29 weeks old.

And the mother-of-two said Reign’s brunette locks and sweeping fringe never fail to surprise people, with it always being the first thing strangers comment on when they meet him.

She said: ‘It’s always the first thing people notice and the first thing they comment on. When he was born, the hospital staff were shocked to see he had a full head of fluffy hair.

‘Reign arrived a month before his due date in October 2019 and we were absolutely gobsmacked that he had so much hair.’

The young infant has quite the beauty regime in place to tame his luxurious locks, and has already enjoyed two pampering trips to the salon since being born.

But the Covid-19 lockdown has forced Vicky and her husband Simon to attempt to cut Reign’s fast-growing hair themselves with a pair of kitchen scissors.

The parents have also adopted a DIY haircare routine for Reign, which sees the infant enjoy a relaxing blow dry every day to put his fringe back out of his eyes.

Vicky, who works as a benefits officer, explained: ‘He has had professional haircuts, but since lockdown I have had to try and tidy it up myself because it grows that fast and gets in his eyes.

The adorable tot has even learnt to brush his own Rapunzel-style hair and is no stranger to beauty products

The doting mother even quipped that their son's 'big mop of beautiful dark hair' often leads to people thinking he is a girl, as she has to tie his fringe back away from his face

‘I have cut it a little wonky in the past, so I am going to wait until the salons reopen.’

The adorable tot has even learnt to brush his own Rapunzel-style hair and is no stranger to beauty products, as Vicky uses Johnson’s shampoo and My Little Coco curling custard to keep it under control.

She added: ‘Reign loves the hairdryer and it helps lift his hair out of his eyes. It’s really cute to watch him brush his own hair too.’

Reign’s impressive mane of hair led to his parents signing him up to a modelling agency when he was just six months old, after strangers commented on his unique look.

Vicky admitted that she was uncertain whether casting directors would be put off Reign because ‘he certainly doesn’t look like a typical baby’.

However, she was left pleasantly surprised after Reign caught the attention of those in the competitive industry, quickly securing five modelling jobs.

She said: ‘I wasn’t sure if having so much hair would put casting directors off him because he certainly doesn’t look like a typical baby.

‘He never had that new-born look, just tons of beautiful thick, dark hair.

‘But he has got off to an amazing start and has been really successful when applying for jobs.’

The doting mother even quipped that their son’s ‘big mop of beautiful dark hair’ often leads to people thinking he is a girl, as she has to tie his fringe back away from his face.

She explained: ‘I have had people call him “she”, I don’t take offence. We dress him in a variety of traditional  clot”boy! clothes and mixed, neutral outfits, it’s just because his hair is so thick and long and I have started to tie it up to keep it out his eyes.’

But she is excited to see what the future holds for her budding model, who is already represented by a number of agencies.
