‘I really want to beat an Olympian!’ Dancing On Ice’s Sonny Jay feels most competitive towards sportsmen Colin Jackson and Graham Bell

Capital Breakfast’s Sonny Jay has declared that he wants to ‘beat an Olympian’ as he takes part on this year’s Dancing On Ice.

Speaking to Roman Kemp and Sian Welby on Friday’s edition of Capital Breakfast, Sonny and pro partner Angela Egan chatted about their competition.

Angela explained: ‘I’ve not seen anyone skate yet so I can’t make that massive judgement but we are skating against two Olympians this week so I think Colin Jackson and Graham Bell are the ones to watch.’

Sonny, 27, added: ‘I really want to beat an Olympian to say that I’ve done it.’

Colin is a runner, while Graham is a skier; Colin won Silver in the 1988 Seoul Olympics in the 110 m hurdles, while Graham represented Great Britain at five Winter Olympics between 1984 and 1998.

Sonny and Angela also teased what their skate will entail on Sunday’s show.

‘Well let’s say it’s fast, emotional with a little bit of Love Actually aspect in there as well,’ Angela said.

She added: ‘If you asked me about a month ago I would have a little reservation, but honestly I’m ready for this, we’re ready for it so I’m feeling pretty good!’
