Tiger Woods’ ex-mistress Rachel Uchitel explains Jana Kramer’s previous hate of her

Rachel Uchitel said she understands why Jana Kramer had a negative perception of her before they connected.

‘We had this moment, I got it; this is the girl who, for 10 years, is the quintessential girl that hates me because she’s the type of person I threaten … that she thinks I am the girl who cheats,’ Uchitel, 45, who made headlines for her affair with golfer Tiger Woods’ mistress in late 2009, told Extra on Monday.

Uchitel said she got why the One Tree Hill star, 37, said that that she hated her prior to meeting her when she recently appeared on Kramer’s Whine Down podcast Saturday, based on Kramer’s past difficulties being on the other end of a marital affair. (Kramer has opened up publicly on her husband’s Mike Caussin’s infidelities).

Uchitel said that Kramer and she now ‘text back and forth’ after she was sorry for pre-judging her.

Uchitel told the show she ‘got to sort of say sorry’ to Kramer, noting that they both ‘feel better.’

Before her podcast with Uchitel, Kramer said, ‘I hate her, honestly,’ and ‘she’s the face of someone else I hate.’

‘That’s a really mean thing to say. I don’t know her. That’s where I feel bad; I don’t know her story.’

Uchitel later told her she understood her initial impression ‘because [her] husband did something similar.

‘I get it, because your husband did something and it makes sense, though. I get it, but I know why you have that hatred and I feel horrible; but you have to realize I didn’t do it to you.’

Uchitel continued: ‘I’ve had to feel hatred like your hatred for me for 10 years. And I didn’t do that to you. I did it to someone else and I feel horrible but I didn’t do it to you and I hope you realize that. And I’m sorry.’

Kramer told Uchitel that she had a better understanding after they spoke, and it helped clear misconceptions she had.

‘I think it’s a huge lesson for women who have been cheated on or vice versa to know that just because someone else did doesn’t mean they’re a bad person,’ Kramer said. ‘You didn’t do that to me – you’re the face and the story, but you’re not that person.

‘I can’t imagine living those years with so many people just hating on you and not getting to know you.’

Kramer added, ‘I apologize for just straight up being like, “No I hate her. She cheated, she’s who cheated probably with my husband.” So I really am so sorry for just not getting to know your story before I passed judgment.’

Uchitel said that negative perceptions based off her affair with the famed golfer led to her participation in the new HBO documentary, Tiger.

‘I go through life with people hating me like I did something personally to them and personally hurt them, personally offended them, personally did something to them with such a vengeance,’ Uchitel said on the podcast. ‘They hate me with a passion when I did nothing to them personally.’

In the Extra interview, Uchitel elaborated on the stigma she felt as the first of Woods’ mistresses to emerge publicly ahead of his divorce from then-wife Elin Nordegren.

‘Everyone loved him, everyone wanted to claim him as theirs, so they wanted me, as, as the monster, and I understood that for 10 years,’ she told the show. ‘I kept my mouth shut. And he got to have his comeback. And it became not fair for me. To have to live with that branding this entire time. So, you know, at some point I just wanted to say what the story was and let me live my life.’
