Purple Wiggle Lachlan Gillespie reveals how the band prepared him for fatherhood

The Wiggles star Lachlan Gillespie has revealed how the iconic children’s band prepared him for fatherhood with twin girls. 

The children’s entertainer and his fiancée, Dana Stephensen, welcomed twin daughters Lulu and Lottie in September.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday, Lachlan, 35, revealed how he was able to get his girls’ attention through song. 

‘I can see the power of singing as opp­osed to talking,’ he told the publication. 

‘You can get their attention or literally stop them crying in their tracks by singing a song; it doesn’t have to be Wiggles,’ he added. 

‘Singing is such a nice thing to do anyway and children res­pond to it so well, even the littlest of kids,’ he said.

The Wiggles star went on to say that while being a children’s entertainer helped, nothing can prepare you for twins. 

He added that the pair haven’t spoken about locking in a wedding date due to how hectic parenthood has been for them. 

Lachlan and Dana surprised everyone when they announced the arrival of their twins in an Instagram post back in September.

Lachlan wrote in the caption: ‘Oh Lulu and Lottie, your mummy and daddy love you with all we have – you are both so beautiful – and I would love to sing to you both forever’.

Neither Lachlan nor Dana had given any indication they were expecting a child, let alone twins, meaning fans were completely floored by the news. 

The couple announced their engagement last April. 

‘On Thursday night, Dana asked me to marry her at home under a fairy light sky and a very excited little boy in a beautiful bow tie,’ Lachlan told his social media followers at the time, referring to Dana’s four-year-old son Jasper from a previous relationship. 

Meanwhile, his ex-wife and fellow Wiggles co-star, Emma Watkins, has also moved on with guitarist Oliver Brian.
