Kate Langbroek reveals the real reason why she turned down a reunion with her former radio co-host Dave Hughes

She had a successful radio show with Dave Hughes a few years ago on the HIT network.

But instead of reviving their magic from days past, Kate Langbroek chose not to reunite with her comedian pal, who is now in Sydney heading up a brand new breakfast radio show.

The 55-year-old told the Herald Sun on Tuesday that she didn’t want to uproot her four children again following their recent return from Italy.

‘Oh yeah we had conversations about that but I couldn’t say to the kids, yeah we’re coming back to Australia, guess what we’re moving to Sydney,’ she said.

She said of Dave: ‘He’s a workaholic and he has to work and he loves a challenge. He’s wired differently to me.’

She added that he and fellow comedian Ed Kavalee will do brilliantly alongside new co-host Erin Molan as hosts of the Hit Network’s breakfast show The Morning Crew.

Kate’s return to Melbourne comes after her family spent the last two years living in Bologna, Italy.

She said of their experience of living in Italy: ‘We did it all ourselves, it was very challenging, magnificent, difficult, joyous, exhausting and uplifting.’

Kate is set to return to radio, this time on as a co-host on KIIS FM’s 3pm Pick-Up, stepping in for Rebecca Judd who quit the show last year.

In December, she and her family were in a mandatory hotel quarantine in Melbourne after returning from Italy.

During quarantine Kate talked to The Project about being in close quarters with family, calling it ‘very intense.’

‘The only consolation is you can yell at the kids as loud as you want. No one will come! ‘You can do whatever you want. No one is breaching the security of that front door,’ she joked.
