‘Never cleaning the chimney again!’ EastEnders’ Jessie Wallace is covered in SOOT in throwback snap from dark storyline which saw Kat Slater badly burned in terrifying house fire
EastEnders’ Jessie Wallace hearkened back to one of her most challenging soap storylines with a dramatic throwback snap on Tuesday.
The actress, 49, shared a photo of her face covered in soot for the 2014 scenes, joking in the caption that she was ‘never cleaning the chimney again.’
Jessie was praised by viewers for her heartbreaking performance in the plot as Kat was left permanently scarred by a house fire, which had been started by her husband Alfie as a wrongful insurance claim.

In the image Kat could be seen lying down while a makeup artist meticulously applied the soot to her face.
Referencing her less-than glamorous appearance, the actress penned the caption: ‘I’m never cleaning my chimney again! F**k that!’
In the memorable storyline Kat was left permanently scarred after being badly burned during a house fire.

Her husband Alfie started the inferno in an attempt to claim on his home’s insurance, unaware his wife was trapped inside.
While Kat recovered from her injuries, she remained unaware her husband was to blame for her burns, even marrying him from her hospital bed and standing by him during his attempts to find them a new home.
But in soap fashion the truth was eventually revealed, and Kat was devastated to learn Alfie was responsible for the horrific scarring on her face.
Jessie’s performance as Kat was praised during the harrowing scenes as she vowed her marriage to Alfie was over.
It comes after Jessie was seen speaking to police officers near her London home alongside her daughter Tallulah, 16, last month.
She had emerged in her slippers to speak to two police officers, who parked their squad car in the middle of a suburban street on 28 December.
She was flanked by Tallulah, who she shares with her policeman ex Dave Morgan, as they engaged in the strained conversation with the law-enforcement officers.
Jessie and her daughter were similarly-clad in comfortable garb as they spoke to and gesticulated at the police officers, who were pointing at a Range Rover.
