Woman starts Twitter debate after questioning whether it’s ‘normal’ to shower with your back to the water rather than facing it – so, how do YOU wash?

  • Alice, from Crystal Palace, has questioned whether shower habits are ‘normal’
  • Took to Twitter and asked if it’s normal to shower with back facing the water
  • One ‘shocked’ social media user said he just assumed ‘everyone’ faced water

A woman has initiated a social media debate after questioning whether it’s ‘normal’ to shower with your back to the water, rather than facing it.

Alice, from Crystal Palace, who ‘always’ faces away from the water, took to Twitter and penned: ‘Help me settle a debate. It’s normal to shower with your back to the shower right? Not facing the water?’

And it wasn’t long before shower lovers across the nation took to the comments section – with very mixed responses.

‘Back to the shower, for one simple reason, when washing you’re not going to bend forward to wash your legs and headbutt the wall,’ wrote one, while a second admitted: ‘I am SHOCKED. I just assumed EVERYONE faced the water.

‘Back to the shower is for hangover recovery only, usually breathing deeply and steadying yourself against the wall, praying you’re not pushing sick down the plug hole before the time’s up.’

Many agreed with Alice that ‘normal’ for them meant showering with their back facing the water.

‘Always back to the shower. Should never ever wash your face in there as most folk have the water too hot. I only ever spin round to rinse suds off the boobs,’ wrote one, while second agreed: ‘Surely everyone faces away or the water goes in your face?’

However, many told how they face both the front and back – depending on the different stages of their morning routine.

‘I do both, then finish off with the handheld, wrote one, while a second penned: ‘I turn both ways, so now I’m thinking ohhhhh I’m a weirdo.

A third added: ‘I can’t do either…I have to take hose off and move over me I can’t handle water just falling from above into me. I’m a freak,’ while a fourth commented: ‘I do both. Facing when washing front, not facing when washing the back. Side on for each side. Like a watery rotisserie.’

Another wrote: ‘Doesn’t everyone change position in the shower to rinse the shower gel off both the front & back of their bodies? Or is that just me?’

Elsewhere, others revealed their own quirky shower habits.

‘Always start facing the shower. Wash my face turn around and whack the temp up. I usually then sit down, hug my legs and put my heads on my knees…so relaxing,’ wrote one.

A second joked: ‘I don’t like my face in the water at all, unless I’ve had a terrible day and you do that thing they do in films, where you put your hands on the wall and lean forward with your hair streaming down, like you’ve just blown up an entire planet and need some time to think.’
