Real Housewives star Pettifleur Berenger ‘begged producers’ to cast her on this season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

She made a memorable dramatic exit from The Real Housewives of Melbourne after a long-standing feud with, Gina Liano, 55.

And while she’s proving to be quite the favourite on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, a source has told New Idea that Pettifleur Berenger  ‘begged’ to be included on the Channel 10 show.

According to a ‘source’, the 56-year-old was ready to relaunch herself back into the public eye and wanted to do so by joining another reality TV show.

‘For so long, Gina was the queen of Melbourne and reality TV … with Pettifleur always in the shadows. But now I’m A Celeb … has pushed her ahead of Gina in the race,’ the ‘insider’ allegedly told the publication.

‘For years Pettifleur let producers know she was available… she planned to be mentally and physically strong, just in case she ever got the call, and has been keeping fit in anticipation.’

Daily Mail has reached out to Pettifleur for comment.

Although fans know her to have a feisty attitude and fiery temper on RHOM, on Saturday, the property developer sensationally revealed that her drama-fuelled persona on the show isn’t real.

She also added how glad she’s to finally ‘shed that image’ after appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Despite admitting she’s ‘forever grateful’ to have been part of Real Housewives franchise, she told The Herald Sun: ‘As the Pettifleur on the show, I had a job to do and that job was to create as much drama as possible.

‘The show was based on extreme wealth and extreme drama and I thought I did my job well, but the downside to doing a job like well is that people tend to hate you.’

Pettifleur also revealed that she no longer wants to be perceived as that sort of character, and hopes her stint in the jungle will help viewers see it simply isn’t her.

‘I loved the show but hopefully I have been able to shred that image and be the Pettifleur that I am to my friends and family on I’m A Celebrity,’ she added.

This comes after Pettifleur burst into tears in the jungle when she revealed she desperately wants to find love but doesn’t ‘feel anything for anyone’.

During an emotional chat with Jess Eva, Pettifleur was asked if she ever ‘goes on dates’ – to which she responded: ‘I never go on dates. Not interested.

‘I know I tease the boys, but I have no feelings – I’m just broken. I don’t know what it is, I really don’t. But I just don’t feel anything for anyone, and it’s a s**t way to be.’

Pettifleur starred in seasons two and three of RHOM, and during her stint she was involved in some of the show’s most memorable feuds.

In season three, she accused Gamble Breaux of meeting her husband on a sugar daddy website. Then, tensions reached boiling point in Dubai, when the outspoken socialite threw an iconic tantrum during a dinner in the middle of the desert.

The show is set to return at an unknown date for a fifth season with three brand new cast members.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here continues on Monday night at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
