Mark Wahlberg admits he ‘wasn’t sure about the 14 day quarantine’ when he arrived in Australia but says ‘it makes complete sense now as that’s why people don’t have to wear masks’
Mark Wahlberg isolated at a private property in the New South Wales coastal town of Byron Bay last month after arriving in Australia.
But on Monday, the 49-year-old actor admitted he initially didn’t understand why he had to quarantine for 14 days.
‘At first I was like “Oh my God, you have to quarantine for 14 whole days” but then I got it,’ he told KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show.

‘Thats why people don’t really have to wear masks, restaurants are open, gyms are open. I went and visited an F45,’ he said.
Mark added: ‘You guys really handled it well. I really take my hat off to Australia and how they handled the pandemic.’
The Hollywood star also revealed he ‘was able to complete a secret project’ during his visit and said it ‘will be coming out soon’.

Mark was spotted arriving in Sydney with his entourage via private jet last month.
Footage showed the Patriots Day star emerging from a private jet flanked by security guards holding umbrellas.
After arriving in Australia, Mark flew to Byron Bay before making his way to a $2500 per night property to quarantine.

It is understood that the 49-year-old was granted permission to skip the usual hotel quarantine and allowed to self-isolate at the private estate instead.
The countryside retreat features 24/7 security, including two NSW police officers, to ensure the hunk was safe at all times and followed quarantine protocol.
The actor is believed to have travelled to Australia to film an advert for online betting agency Ladbrokes.
