LeBron James reveals he’s ‘so excited’ about Space Jam: A New Legacy… as he teases new footage from upcoming film
LeBron James and company are now in full-court press mode ahead of the long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 film Space Jam starring Michael Jordan.
And on Saturday the Los Angeles Lakers superstar posted the first video teaser for Space Jam: A New Legacy, which pairs James with the classic Looney Tunes line-up.
‘LET’S GO!!!!! @spacejammovie coming at y’all in just a few months from now! I’m so EXCITED about this project!!!’ James captioned his Instagram post that featured a clip of himself in the lead role alongside Bug Bunny, and two other screenshots from the video.

Along with replacing Jordan in the lead role, James also serves as a producer alongside Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the script with Sev Ohanian,
The movie, which is from James’ SpringHill Entertainment production company, was directed by Malcolm D. Lee, who’s best known for helming such comedies as The Best Man (1999), Roll Bounce (2005), Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008), Girls Trip (2017) and Night School (2018).

Space Jam: A New Legacy is slated to premiere in theaters and HBO Max on July 16, 2021.
It also stars Don Cheadle, Sonequa Martin-Green, Erc Bauza and Kath Soucie, who’s reprising her role as Lola Bunny.
NBA players Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul and Kyle Kuzma make cameo appearances in the film along with WNBA players Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike.

In the unveiling video, James confidently walks to his right before redirecting to the center to look directly into the camera.
The uniforms are bright and colorful, consisting of baby blue, with a a layered orange and yellow half-moon, and orange and black trim. James is wearing a No. 6 uniform for the Tune Squad, instead of No. 23, which he’s currently has with the LA Lakers, as well as when he played with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.
Some fans might remember, Michael Jordan wore No. 23 for his starring role in the original Space Jam film.
No. 6 was James’ number with the Miami Heat and the USA National Team, as well as his practice uniform.
