RHOD’s Kary Brittingham shares ‘disappointing’ text she received from LeeAnne Locken

Real Housewives of Dallas star Kary Brittingham has fallen out with former co-star LeeAnne Locken for a second time.

The pair memorably clashed on the fourth season of the Bravo series, but later made amends off camera after the reunion special aired.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia this week, Kary, 50, said that it was some recent comments she made on the season five premiere of RHOD that upset LeeAnne.

During the episode, Kary was asked by a producer to explain the difference between LeeAnne and co-star Brandi Redmond’s racism scandals.

‘The difference between what LeeAnne did and what Brandi did in the video, LeeAnne was doing it out of hate,’ Kary explained.

‘Brandi’s video was very ignorant and stupid, but she’s been so devastated about it and I think that she will never do something like that again.’

She added: ‘Sadly, I never saw that from LeeAnne.’

On the fourth season of RHOD, LeeAnne received backlash for referring to Kary’s Mexican nationality in a way that many viewers deemed aggressive or derogatory.

Shortly after, a video surfaced on social media of Brandi mocking Asians that was widely criticised.

Kary told Daily Mail Australia that she and LeeAnne made amends after season four, but after the season five premiere aired she received a text message from the Dallas socialite expressing that she was disappointed by her comments.

‘We did go to lunch and she did apologise, and I told her, ‘I appreciate it and I wish you would’ve apologised a lot sooner.’

‘I feel like I forgive and forget, she apologised. But it was actually when this last episode showed and I made the comparison, and she texted me she was disappointed.

‘And I was like, ‘What?’ Maybe you say, “Kary, I’m sorry again”. But anyways, that’s LeeAnne, so…’

When asked if she could see herself spending time with LeeAnne again, Kary firmly responded: ‘No.’

In an interview last December, LeeAnne Locken told the POPlitically Incorrect podcast that she had made amends with Kary and was remorseful for her actions on the show.

‘I sat down with Kary and we had a heart to heart, a one on one, and I said, “Listen, if you truly took it that way and any offence, that’s not how I meant it at all.” And we move forward from there,’ she explained.

‘Kary said, “I wish you would have come to me the second that the episode aired. I wish you would’ve come to me and called me and said ‘Hey, let’s sit down and talk about this.'” And you know what? She was right,’ LeeAnne continued.

‘I think years of doing Housewives put me in a position where you just didn’t do that, because you didn’t know how that was gonna get used against you. I hate to say this, but being a Housewife can sometimes make you a little paranoid.

‘And it showed me that I wasn’t being as mature as I could be. That was a failure on my part and it made me realise that I want to be more mature and I want to step up to the plate and I want to be responsible and I want to grow. And we’ve accepted that and we’ve moved forward and I’ve been grateful for that.’

LeeAnne also said that the experience had taught her a lesson about what kind of language is acceptable in today’s society.

'I sat down with Kary and we had a heart to heart, a one on one, and I said, "Listen, if you truly took it that way and any offence, that's not how I meant it at all." And we move forward from there,' LeeAnne told POPlitically Incorrect

‘Some of us older people, and I’m one of the older people in the world, we need to learn what’s acceptable today and what’s not.

‘And the thing is, if you’re of a certain age, I’m 53, and you’ve referred to something your whole life in a certain way and all of a sudden it’s no longer acceptable, you’re like, “When did that happen?” It’s life.’

Since exiting The Real Housewives of Dallas last year, LeeAnne is now focusing on her philanthropic work again and is writing a new book of positive affirmations.
