Studio 10 reporter hits back at body-shaming trolls who called him ‘chubby’

Studio 10 reporter and producer Daniel Doody has hit back at a nasty online troll who criticised his weight. 

Daniel took aim at the viewer who claimed he’d ‘put on weight’ and looked ‘chubby’ while presenting the news. 

He addressed the issue on Twitter, writing: ‘My wife told me about this comment she saw on FB which made her upset. It said: “Looks like Doody put on his share of covid kilos! Poor chubby thing”.’

‘I’m very happy with the body… You don’t have to like me that’s fine but please don’t criticise,’ he added.

‘My appearance or body. I would never and have never done that too anyone so why would you. #DOODYLOVESUALL just be kind to one another peace.’

The Studio 10 reporter also appeared on the morning show on Friday to discuss the incident. 

‘I’m going to call it out, I won’t stand for it. If you don’t like me, that is fine. You can switch channels, there are other personalities on different channels, that’s fine, I don’t care about that,’ he told co-hosts Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus. 

‘But the moment you start resizing me or my appearance or my skin colour, that’s when it’s just, it’s not on and I won’t stand for it.’

‘And you know what? I’m happy in the skin I am in. I am happy. We have a beautiful 11-month-old baby boy and yeah I put on a few kilos and I’ve got a bit of a dad belly, but you know what? I am happy and that’s all that matters.’

Daniel joined Studio 10 as a news reporter in November last year.

Prior to landing a job on the morning show, he worked with 10 News First, The Project, SKY News, 2EC and Power FM.

Studio 10 is presented by Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus and airs weekdays from 8am.
