Married At First Sight: Cast blindsided by Lizzie and Seb’s sudden break-up

Married At First Sight couple Lizzie Sobinoff and Seb Guilhaus shocked viewers when they announced their split on Monday.

But it wasn’t just fans who were surprised, as the pair’s co-stars were also blindsided because they’d seemed so happy at the cast reunion, which was filmed in Sydney last month.

Season five bride Jo McPharlin, a.k.a. Foxy Jojo, said on Instagram that she couldn’t believe the lovebirds had split.

The former music promoter, 53, admitted he was shocked and ‘saddened’ by Seb and Lizzie’s break-up because they’d seemed so tight at the reunion.

‘My heart goes out to both of them, honestly. They were the loveliest, loveliest people I have met. I spent some time with Lizzie and Seb at the reunion, and they always had my back,’ he said.

‘Please, everybody, don’t put s**t on them, because they are lovely, lovely people. The rest of the idiots are fake, these guys are real.’

It remains to be seen how Channel Nine will address the couple’s split when the two-part reunion airs later this month.

On Monday, Lizzie and Seb shared identical posts on their respective Instagram accounts announcing they had split.

They said they’d ‘mutually decided to end’ their relationship and asked for fans to be kind and respectful as they move forward.

Interestingly, the pair anticipated there would be ‘rumours’ about the circumstances of their break-up.

Speculation: Buried in it was the line: 'Naturally we are both aware there will be countless rumours and so on.' While no rumours have emerged as yet, the unusual wording begs the question as to whether a big story about their split will break in the coming days

Their statement continued: ‘It is still fresh for us both, we just know there has been some curiosity as we have shared parts of our relationship online and we met on national television.

‘We are both respectful of each other and are still involved in each other’s lives. We both have cherished each other and have grown together. We would like to send love and well wishes to all.’
