Abbie Chatfield felt like an ‘inconvenience’ to Ash Williams on I’m A Celebrity after brutal scenes

The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield had her jungle romance quashed when love interest Ash Williams decided new arrival, Alli Simpson, was ‘way more his type’.

On Tuesday’s I’m A Celebrity episode, despite cuddling in bed with Abbie six hours earlier, Ash appeared mesmerised by Alli and fixated on pursuing the ‘mega cutie’.

Abbie, 25, reacted to Ash’s ‘locker room talk’ on her Instagram Stories: ‘I’m just hurt, and feel like I was spoken about as though I am an inconvenience – easily discarded.’

‘I was spoken about as though I am an inconvenience’: The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield SLAMMED the ‘locker room talk’ about her by I’m A Celebrity love interest Ash Williams after he dropped her to pursue ‘mega cute’ Alli Simpson in the jungle on Tuesday night’s episode

The airing of Ash’s private conversation in camp with co-star Grant Denyer was likely the first time Abbie had heard him compare the two women as potential matches for himself in the jungle.

Abbie interestingly re-shared a fan’s Instagram Story which suggested Abbie had touched on similar situations on her It’s A Lot podcast, writing: ‘The last half of this episode sums up Ash on I’m A Celeb trying to trade Abbie in because something “better” came along.’

Despite admitting she was hurt by the scenes coming to light, Abbie and Ash still follow each other on Instagram, and Abbie said her frustration had nothing to do with Cody Simpson’s sister Alli.

‘[Alli’s] mega cute,’ Ash said in a one-on-one chat with co-star Grant, who looked on in surprise. ‘It is very tough because… in all seriousness she is way more my type.’

Grant then burst out into laughter, before responding: ‘A mere six hours after someone left your bed?’

He later made a very cheeky joke at Abbie’s expense, mentioning the star was ‘used to breakups’ given her history as The Bachelor’s 2019 runner-up.

Shortly after Ash’s discussion about the ladies on the show, host Julia Morris gave her two cents: ‘What I loved about that conversation was the unquestioned assumption that it is Ash’s choice to make – as though the romantic success with Abbie and Alli is just a foregone conclusion, and they have no choice in the matter whatsoever.’

Despite his intrigue, Alli showed zero interest in Ash when questioned by her other campmates about him later that night – before confirming she was seeing someone outside of the show already.

Earlier in the day, reality star Abbie gave the blonde actress the lowdown of their cuddle the night before, telling her: ‘It was pouring rain last night and my bed was the only one that was getting wet.

‘I was cuddling with Ash last night. Yeah, it was so nice. It was like head tickles and stuff. Affection.

Abbie went on to note her self esteem was already at an all-time-low and that Ash’s public rejection didn’t help build her confidence back and was ‘a kick in the guts’.

She had joked: ‘You think your love life is bad – imagine consistently being second best on national TV’. This was in reference to herself being dumped on The Bachelor by Matt Agnew in 2019, and then by Ciarran Stott on Bachelor In Paradise in 2020.
