According to the outlet, Chad feels threatened by Archie, played by KJ Apa, who has enjoyed a years-long friendship with his wife Veronica (Camila Mendes).

Judging from the name, Mason’s character might be a nod to Gordon Gekko, the fictional character in 1987’s film Wall Street which won actor Michael Douglas a Best Actor Oscar.

Chad Gekko will be introduced in the episode four of Riverdale’ Season 5, which will air on Wednesday, February 10th.

Riverdale is based on the classic characters from the Archie Comics, but the show is decidedly darker and moodier than its source material.

The show stars Apa, Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Casey Cott and Madelaine Petsch.

The cast have all been seen over the last few months in Vancouver, Canada filming the hit show’s fifth season amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
