Lisa Wilkinson enjoyed a trip to the cinema for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began to see The Dry with her daughter, Billi FitzSimons.

Posting to Instagram on Friday, The Project presenter shared a sweet photo of herself and her daughter ahead of the film screening.

The 61-year-old explained that it has been 12 months since her last trip to a movie theatre.

‘First time at an actual picture theatre in more than 12 months,’ she captioned the post.

Abiding by the new COVID-19 restrictions, the mother/daughter duo sported matching disposable face masks for the outing.

Face masks are now mandatory in certain indoor venues in Greater Sydney including cinemas.

Lisa styled her hair in loose curls and wore a touch of eyeliner and mascara, while Billi opted to go makeup free for the outing.

Their outing comes after Lisa suffered an on-air gaffe during Tuesday night’s episode of The Project.

The show had just returned from commercial break, and cut to Lisa sitting at the far end of the desk.

The camera then focused on her face, while the journalist stared, blankly, down the lens.

Not saying a word, Lisa just continued gazing eerily ahead, not moving a single muscle, as if hypnotised.

Her co-star Susie Youssef then began speaking off camera, introducing the next segment.

Lisa continued staring, shifting awkwardly in her seat, turning to the right in a robotic fashion, as the camera stayed on her face even as Susie spoke.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the shot cut to Susie, 37, who was by then introducing the next segment.

No explanation was given, but it appeared to be a technical glitch, where the wrong camera shot was aired.
