Molly-Mae Hague reveals ‘awful’ way model scout rejected her

‘I’m still traumatised to this day’: Molly-Mae Hague reveals ‘awful’ way model scout from reputable agency rejected her for being the ‘wrong shape’

Molly-Mae Hague revealed she is still traumatised after being rejected as a model for being ‘the wrong shape’ despite initially being ‘spotted’ by an agency scout.

The Love Island star and influencer, 21, told fans she had an ‘awful’ and very ‘traumatising’ experience when she was younger after she was asked to audition for a reputable agency in London.

She said: ‘I definitely don’t do modelling but I have the funniest story that happened to me when I was younger. It’s not funny at all actually. It’s still traumatising me to this day.’

She explained: 'Basically I was on a train and got scouted, so embarrassing. This woman from a modelling agency she scouted me'

‘She was like “Please can you come in tomorrow and we can potentially sign you”. I was absolutely buzzing. I always wanted to be a model when I was younger, definitely not anymore.’

Molly-Mae, who cancelled all her plans to attend the audition said: ‘So I went into London, cancelled work for the day, went for a meeting with this woman.

Molly-Mae said: 'She literally took one look at me and said "yeah no sorry made a mistake you're not the right shape to be a model" and I literally was traumatised trying to be all polite'

‘She got me to stand in front of her and some other people and do like a little twirl in all black clothing and stuff, like no make up.

‘She literally took one look at me and said “yeah no sorry made a mistake you’re not the right shape to be a model” and I literally was traumatised trying to be all polite whereas if it happened now it would be a different story.

‘I was like “can you give me constructive criticism? What wasn’t right about me?” She was like “you looked different on the train, like your legs looked different”. Honestly it was awful.’

Molly-Mae said she felt the industry was too harsh and admired anyone who was modelling.

She said: ‘I just had to tell that story if anyone asks me about modelling. Just that day, taking the day off work, getting on the train and being so excited and that woman just shutting me down like that and it was so so so bad and if anyone that is watching this has ever had that happen to them before, like screw the person that did that to you.

‘I still think about it to this day. I’m not like bothered by it but the modelling industry is just so harsh and not nice. Hats off to models though.’

Older and wiser Molly-Mae admitted she still wishes she could stand up for herself more.

She said: ‘What first comes to mind is to always stand up for myself. Even though I don’t do that now I was really bad for it when I was younger.

‘I wish it was something I’d be better at now and when I was younger too.’

She also admitted in a fan Q and A that she and her Love Island boyfriend Tommy Fury have been spending too much time alone during lockdown because they live together.

She also admitted she was the one who always gave in first in arguments and tried to hug it out and said the prospect of babies and marriage excited her.

She said: ‘I am the one in the relationship that always gives in first, and tries to sort arguments out. I normally gauge it by asking for a hug and normally that just nips it in the bud.

‘Then if the hug doesn’t work, just say sorry. I would rather just end it, [the argument, not the relationship] because arguments get so long.’

Molly-Mae also spoke about being asked about marriage and babies and she said it doesn’t bother her to be asked about it.

‘I don’t really care,’ she said. ‘Instagram could never pressure me to do something as big as that, so I just do my own thing and it happens when it happens.’
