‘I didn’t change a nappy for my first 12 months’: Jess Eva reveals she used to suffer from postnatal depression on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

She’s known for her sharp wit and vivacious personality.

But Jess Eva has revealed she once struggled with motherhood, in unseen footage from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The mother-of-two used to suffer from postnatal depression, following the birth of her six-year-old son, Freddy.

‘I didn’t change a nappy for my first 12 months’: Jess Eva (pictured) has revealed she used to suffer from postnatal depression, in unseen footage from the latest season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

‘I had postnatal for the first 12 months, so I didn’t change a nappy for my first 12 months,’ the former Block star told campmates, reported news.com.au

‘It was awful, but I got out of it. Some people never get out of it.’

She added the condition became so bad she left her son in a cot alone one time and phoned her partner, Norm Hogan, to let him know she was ‘out of here’.

Now Jess is on a mission to break the stigma surrounding postnatal depression because ‘you’ve gotta talk about it’.

‘If you’ve got a room full of women that have had kids, chances are probably 80 per cent have experienced postnatal depression but are too embarrassed to talk about it because they think it’s some kind of failure on their parenthood and that’s not the case,’ she said.

On Sunday, Jess entered the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle alongside The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield, former Australian Idol star Paulini Curuenavuli and The Voice’s Jack Vidgen.

Other contestants include veteran TV host Grant Denyer, comedian Ash Williams, former Block star Jess Eva, actress Toni Pearen and retired AFL player Travis Varcoe.

Meanwhile, former AFL great Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico, celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge and Real Housewives of Melbourne star Pettifleur Berenger have all joined the show as intruders.

The new season was pre-recorded for the first time this year, and production was also relocated from South Africa to northern NSW due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
