He’s starring on the latest season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

And on Thursday night’s episode of the TV show, former AFL player Travis Varcoe revealed he would ‘hate’ taking his children to a football game, after falling victim to horrific racial slurs.

The 32-year-old told TV host Grant Denyer, 43, he still vividly remembers being called a ‘monkey or a chimp’ – and that it ‘bloody hurts’ seeing people attempt to ruin his image on social media.

‘I think one called me a monkey or a chimp,’ he said. ‘There was a Facebook page that had “petrol sniffer” with my face on it… It hurts. It bloody hurts.’

While Travis admitted to having developed a ‘thick skin’, he said the personal attacks were the ones he wanted to shield his family from.

‘When there’s personal attacks and your partner or you kids have to read that, it breaks your heart,’ he divulged to Grant.

‘It’s quite difficult to sort of talk about it because you don’t want to see your loved ones go through something like that.
