WHAT IS APPENDICITIS?

Appendicitis is a swelling of the appendix, a two to four-inch-long organ connected to the large intestine.

Appendicitis can cause severe pain and it’s important for it to be treated swiftly in case the appendix bursts, which can cause life-threatening illness.

In most cases surgeons will remove the appendix in an appendectomy – scientists aren’t sure why people need an appendix but removing it does not harm people.

The causes of appendicitis aren’t clear but it is thought to be caused by something blocking the entrance to the organ.

Symptoms include pain in the stomach which later travels to your lower right-hand-side and becomes severe.

Pressing on this area, coughing, or walking can all make the pain worse, and other symptoms can be nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhoea and a fever.

The TV star told The Sun: ‘I feel like because I am absolutely fine being a solo parent, I have so many friends that have ended up solo parents through no fault of their own, they haven’t planned it.

‘They’re absolutely bossing it and if you look at really strong mums like Lydia Bright and Ferne McCann – they’re absolutely smashing it. You don’t need a man at all. I’m such a control freak. I have a fear that people are going to let me down.

‘If I get to 35 and I haven’t met someone then I’ll have a baby. But if I meet someone at 34 and then we split up after two or three years and I haven’t had a baby, my eggs would be expired.’

The blonde also insisted she’s ‘too independent’ and shared her plans to freeze her eggs in September.

Singers Cheryl and Rihanna previously revealed they’d also be open to raising their children alone.

Businesswoman Rihanna, 32, told British Vogue in March: ‘Would I do it on my own? Hell yeah! I’ll have kids – three or four of ’em.

‘Hell yeah, I feel like society makes me want to feel like ‘Oh you got it wrong …’ They diminish you as a mother, [if] there’s not a dad in your kid’s lives.

‘But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.’

Crazy Stupid Love hitmaker Cheryl, 37, added to The Times Magazine in January: ‘If time was on my side and I was in my twenties, yeah, I would wait and consider more options, or wait for somebody I felt was right.

‘You could meet somebody and for that year it feels incredible, but there is never a guarantee because there are so many variables that can happen. Life is a funny old game.

‘Do you imagine some guy from Newcastle saying, “That’s my child?” There’s a lot to choose from and a lot to think about.’
