From an elegant lady dressed in red in London’s Green Park to a tired-looking mother and her children riding the subway in New York, this stunning array of images showcases the work of some of the world’s finest photographers.
The breathtaking pictures were captured by the winners of the prestigious AAP Magazine’s 15 Streets photography competition.
This year’s competition features a black and white photo of a young lady walking through Broadway in New York, and an elderly woman sat taking pictures with an old film camera in San Gimignano, Italy.
The diverse images also include a church service being held outside in Coney Island, US after Hurricane Sandy devastated the area in 2012, as well as a young woman wearing a face mask on a bus in Rome amid a second wave of coronavirus.
‘A good street photographer must be possessed of many talents: an eye for detail, light and composition, impeccable timing, a populist or humanitarian outlook and a tireless ability to constantly shoot, shoot, shoot and never miss a moment,’ said John Maloof, a judge in the competition.
Speaking about the winning photographers, the competition’s organisers said: ‘Thanks to their ability to grasp decisive moments, they allow us to become a spectator of their wanderings, a curious observer of people’s behaviour.’
