The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson suffers awkward on-air gaffe

Lisa Wilkinson suffered an on-air gaffe during Tuesday night’s episode of The Project. 

The show had just returned from commercial break, and cut to Lisa, 61, sitting at the far end of the desk. 

The camera then focused on her face, while the journalist stared, blankly, down the lens. 

Not saying a word, Lisa just continued gazing eerily ahead, not moving a single muscle, as if hypnotised. 

Her co-star Susie Youssef then began speaking off camera, introducing the next segment.  

Lisa continued staring, shifting awkwardly in her seat, turning to the right in a robotic fashion, as the camera stayed on her face even as Susie spoke. 

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the shot cut to Susie, 37, who was by then introducing the next segment. 

No explanation was given, but it appeared to be a technical glitch, where the wrong camera shot was aired.  

On Sunday, Lisa had another mishap, this time while relaxing on a yacht on Sydney Harbour. 

In an Instagram post, she told fans how the hat she has worn on holidays for years was whisked away by the wind, just moments after her photo was taken.  

‘Sadly, seconds after this was taken my favourite hat (the one I’ve been taking on holidays for years) was whisked away by the wind and disappeared into Sydney Harbour,’ Lisa wrote. 

‘We tried to grab it (much to the amusement of everyone watching), but boat traffic made it impossible. So if anyone finds it, enjoy!! She’s been everywhere with me, she even floats, so she’s out there somewhere.’
