Ashanti reveals she is now COVID-free along with her parents as she looks forward to ‘202WON’

Nearly a month after she revealed she had tested positive for COVID-19, singer Ashanti is ringing in the new year without the deadly virus.

The 40-year-old singer (born Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas) took to Instagram on January 1, revealing she got her negative COVID-19 test results two days ago.

She also revealed that her parents also tested negative as well, to ring in the new year in a healthy and positive way.

‘Starting off the new year amazing and COVID free!!! Got my negative results back 2 days ago! Happy New Year y’all!!! Let’s go 202WON! Thankugod!’ she said in the photo.

She captioned the post, ‘Feeling grateful. My parents and I got our negative results back right in time to start off the New Year healthy, happy & loved. 

‘Wishing y’all all an Amazing 202WON,’ she added, along with several emojis and the hashtag #grateful.

Ashanti revealed on December 12 that she tested positive for COVID-19 in an Instagram post. 

‘Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19,’ she began in her December 12 IG post.

‘I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the Verzuz from my house… we’re trying to figure it all out,’ she said of a Verzuz event she was supposed to participate in with Keyshia Cole, which was pushed to January 9.

She also sent out an update on Christmas Eve, revealing she’s still in good spirits and feeling well, while thanking fans for all their well wishes.

‘Hey yall just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers. I’ve gotten so many calls, texts, emails and DM‘s checking in on me and my family and I’m super grateful for that. I’m feeling much better…,’ she said.

‘Thanking God that my mom is out of the hospital and my dad is doing well. Needless to say this will be a very different Christmas.. but still filled with gratitude and love. Thanks Bink for dropping off the herbal tea’s,’ the rapper added.

She also shared a brief video of her ringing in the new year, revealing it was the first time she had done so by herself in over a decade.

‘This is the first time in over a decade I actually spent New Year’s Eve/ The New Year at home,’she began.

It has shown me that your life literally can change in the blink of an eye… with all of the negativity surrounding 2020 it’s also important to celebrate the positive things,’ she added.
