Rubik’s Cube movie is happening from Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment and Endeavor Content

Nearly 50 years after its debut, the Rubik’s Cube is ready for its big-screen close-up with a new movie in the works.

Producer Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment is teaming up with Endeavor Content for a feature based on the popular toy, according to Deadline.

Both Hyde Park and Endeavor are also teaming up with Glassman Media to develop a game show centering on the popular puzzle.

Rubik’s Cube was invented by Erno Rubik, a Hungarian sculptor and architecture professor, in 1974.

Originally dubbed The Magic Cube, it was ultimately changed to the Rubik’s Cube and licensed to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp in 1980.

Over 450 million Rubik’s Cubes have been sold worldwide, and it is believed to be the best-selling toy of all-time.

The popular cube has even evolved in recent years into the competitive world of ‘speed cubing,’ where players try to solve the puzzle as quickly as they can.

The World Cube Association was formed in 2004, and holds the Rubik’s Cube World Championship every two years, with the last event happening in Melbourne in 2019.

Red Bull has hosted its own Rubik’s Cube World Cup event in Boston since 2018.
