‘It’s a big commitment!’ Former Big Brother star Bree Amer reveals her surprising new career

Bree Amer was one of the most memorable contestants from the 2004 season of Big Brother, using her newfound fame to become a radio host and TV producer.

And now the 38-year-old has launched a surprising new career as a marriage celebrant, having wed her first couple in December.

Bree, who studied for 18 months to receive her marriage celebrant certificate while on maternity leave with her second child, told The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential on Monday that ‘it is so joyful in a time where there is a lot of negativity’.

The mother-of-two added: ‘It is full on, like a full on course of 750 hours of study. It is a big commitment.’

Bree, who has launched her own business page on Instagram, documented her first day as a marriage celebrant in a post on December 13.

She wrote: ‘Yesterday I married my very first couple as an Authorised Marriage Celebrant! They were my good friends, which made the day even more special.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia in June last year, Bree said that too many people are being cast on shows these days even though they aren’t mentally strong enough for it.

‘I think some people who are cast on shows these days are just too fragile, and trust me, a lot of frank conversations are had with people before they go on TV,’ she said.

‘People can go through psychological evaluations and be warned about the aftermath and how mean people can be, but sometimes you don’t know how fragile stars are until they’re actually [on the show].’

‘I do worry about people, but everyone makes their own decisions and you can only do so much to warn people,’ she added.
