Drew Barrymore admits she once got stood up while using a celebrity dating app: ‘I felt so stupid’

Drew Barrymore reflected on her dating app experiences while chatting with comedian Nikki Glaser this week.

On Monday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show the actress talked about a well known celebrity dating app and how she would come across the same types of men on it.

‘I went on an app, I think you’ve been on this app too, where every guy was a surfer, a photographer, had a dog and like definitely their best friend’s kid.

‘And I was like well this is like a cookie cutter, like it’s like the same thing over and over and over.

Drew, 45, said she finally found someone she liked and got a date nailed down.

‘He stood me up at the exact time we were supposed to meet. I was like, can’t you be a jerk like an hour before, that would have been such a time saver.

‘I know that happens all the time, I was more miffed that it was like at 3, when we were supposed to meet. I’m like, just do that at 2… I felt so stupid.’

Nikki chimed in: ‘It’s nice to hear that it’s happened to you too. These apps, especially the one you are talking about, which I believe is the celebrity dating app, I just call it DJ’s jumping off of yachts because that’s all it is.’

‘Yes, and there are all these big high-powered men and of course I didn’t go for any of those, I never have. I was like oh the comedy writer that sounds fun.’ Drew added.

‘I’m sure he was just intimidated by you, that’s what I always convince myself of when they cancel…’ Nikki reassured the mother-of-two.

Drew also reflected on how she felt insecure when she saw how many beautiful women were on the app vying for the same men she was.

‘When I did see the female side of that very dating app, I couldn’t believe the women on it.

‘It was all beautiful women in bikinis and at the same time like I’m like you know what this is my body, I made two babies, I’m working with what I’ve got. And you know what screw it I can’t. I love these women in Victoria’s Secret campaigns, I love these women on this app and I’m not going to compare myself to them but how do you approach it?’

Nikki agreed that the competition on dating apps is ‘wild’.

‘It’s so funny because the other night I was on the app and there was this guy, I think who has played Spider-Man before, and I hearted him, and I was like, “Please, please match. Did we link?” And as I’m saying, “Please match,” I was scraping hummus out of a party size container with my finger.’

Drew is mom to two daughters; Frankie, six and Olive, eight, with ex-husband Will Kopelman who she split with in 2016.
