Account manager Caitlin Burton, 23, lives in Leicester with her partner Paul

Was: 13st 12lb Now: 10st 10lb

I joined WW on a whim in the middle of the night last year. I was fed up feeling the way I did, wearing a coat to cover up in the office and crying to my mum.

I’d put on weight because I was happy – Paul and I would watch Netflix every night with snacks and I’d go to Greggs for lunch. But when I got to a size 16, I stopped buying clothes and wanting to see people.

By May, I’d had enough so I joined WW. I went on the Blue Plan at first, but then switched to the Green. On Blue I was overeating ZeroPoints foods for the sake of it but Green helps me with portion control: I’ve learned what a full tummy feels like.

It’s really easy – you follow it on the app. Sometimes I’d want a packet of biscuits, but I’d chat to the WW 24/7 coach to remember the reasons I was trying to lose weight – I’d have fruit instead.

When I reached my goal of 10st 10lb in November, I cried with joy. But I still weigh myself every Saturday and go to the coaching sessions – currently online because of Covid – for the community side of things. They’re so friendly.

Sharon Dakin, 51, lives in Belper, Derbyshire, with her husband Andy

Was: 11st 12lb Now: 9st 4lb

When I reached 50 in 2019, I struggled to find something to wear to my party. I was a size 14 and while I looked OK in some photos, I didn’t feel good about myself.

By last Christmas I thought ‘I’ve got to do something’. I’d been living on ready-made meals because I was busy and they were easy, but they’re obviously a lot higher in calories than freshly prepared food.

And as a coeliac, I ate a lot of gluten-free bread, which contains much more sugar than normal. So last January

I rejoined WW. I’d lost a stone and a half six years before with them, but after reaching my goal I left – I didn’t think I needed support.

This time I wasn’t sure if I could do it, but I filled in the questionnaire, which recommended the Purple Plan and it just worked – there was an awful lot of ZeroPoints food, which helped.

During lockdown I did a workout every day and followed exercises on the WW app, hitting my goal in May, which was brilliant. This time I’m staying a member – I need the structure that WW gives you.

Engineer Stephen Orr, 47, lives near Glasgow with his wife Dawn

Was: 25st 4lb Now: 14st 10lb

Sitting in hospital with my heart racing and wires attached to my chest was the wakeup call I needed.

The drug I was on for high blood pressure had caused heart arrhythmia and I had to face up to the facts – I had no one to blame but myself. I’d always been heavy – I ate a high-fat, high-sugar diet – so I joined WW.

I wasn’t completely in the dark – I felt as if I’d been trying to lose weight all my life, but a banana isn’t as nice as a chocolate bar.

Walking into my first workshop in January 2019 was intimidating. WW is 95 per cent female, although you might get the odd token fellow who you instantly become friends with! But you soon realise it’s not judgmental – no one is there because they overeat lentils.

For me, the diet was really easy. You get a certain number of points to spend and as long as I stayed within my budget, I would lose weight – up to 10lb a week.

I followed the Blue Plan and the flexibility worked well for me. Dawn, who isn’t a member but has also lost 5½st through eating the same as me, now says I don’t snore any more.
