They’ve been together for less than a year, but rumours are flying that Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska could already be engaged.

In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, the 31-year-old former Bachelor teased that he and Irena are set to marry, referring to her dad as his ‘future father-in-law’.

Locky shared a photo of himself and Irena, 31, talking to her family via FaceTime and captioned it: ‘Happy birthday to my future father-in-law.’

He added: ‘Can’t wait to [sic] for another challenge but this time in person and don’t think a little surgery will get you out of it haha’.

After meeting on this year’s season of The Bachelor, Locky and Irena soon sparked engagement rumours.

In November, he referred to the nurse as ‘the love of my life’, after calling her ‘my one true love’ on Instagram Stories. 

But Irena denied widespread rumours Locky had proposed and teased: ‘No we are not engaged… yet.’ 

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia earlier this month, Locky confirmed that marriage was something he and Irena had discussed.

‘I mean we’ve definitely talked about getting engaged, and if it is gonna happen, I’ll probably do something crazy for it,’ he said.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph this month, Locky referred to Irena as his ‘soulmate’ and said that they ‘will get married’ in the future. 

‘We want to spend the rest of our lives together, we will get married eventually,’ he added at the time. 

‘There has been a lot of talk. Obviously we have talked about it but we are just happy spending the time together with Christmas coming up. 

‘We are extremely happy together. I have never wanted to say soulmate or anything like that but when I look at Irena, she is definitely my soulmate.’

Fans were convinced Locky was set to propose just before Christmas, after promising Irena ‘a day she will never forget’, but it turned out to be just a day of skydiving.  

‘So Locky and I are off to Rottnest Island tomorrow. Last time we were there, we sparked engagement rumours but Locky has just told me that tomorrow will be a day that I will never forget,’ Irena wrote on Instagram before the big reveal.
