A former Bachelor star has revealed her new tribute tattoo to three-year-old Luna Matenga who tragically died after being hit by a car on the Gold Coast last weekend.

The brave little girl was struck while walking across Goldmine Road at Ormeau in the Gold Coast hinterland on Sunday and died three days later.

Rhiannon, who is close friends with the Matenga family, revealed she had received the tattoo in honour of Luna in an Instagram post on Thursday.

The tattoo features a moon and sun and has been inked on her wrist.

‘Fly high little Luna bear. You truly were like the sun, lighting up everyone’s day. You’ll sit on my heartbeat every day now,’ Rhiannon wrote.

The three-year-old’s grief-stricken family remained at her bedside, with her mother Jessica Feeney vowing they ‘are not giving up or leaving her side’.

But on Wednesday Luna tragically succumbed to her injuries, with Ms Feeney taking to social media to pen a heartbreaking tribute to her daughter.

‘With the heaviest of hearts, I want to thank every single person for their prayers and positive vibes for my baby girl. She felt it, we felt it,’ she posted on Facebook.

‘Unfortunately at 9.03pm on the 22nd of December we let our beautiful baby girl go, surrounded by her family in the arms of her mummy and daddy!

‘Our hearts are completely broken. Fly high my gorgeous blue eyed, red headed unicorn! Ride those dragons baby. Until we meet again!’

A GoFundMe page raising money for Luna’s family has raised more than $70,000.
