EXCLUSIVE: Maya Vander has said that her Selling Sunset co-star Christine Quinn ‘throws them all under the bus to get publicity’

During her chat with Top10Casinos.com, Maya admitted that staying out of the drama on Selling Sunset was an intentional decision, and was unimpressed when Christine recently branded her ‘the gossiper.’

She said: ‘Christine just did an interview which actually caught me by surprise. I heard she said I’m “the gossiper” or something, but I really don’t want to be involved in the drama.

‘Sure, will I ask questions that will lead to an uncomfortable conversation, yeah, I do that, but not to create anything. I really couldn’t care less to be honest.

‘I do sell real estate it’s my profession and full-time job and I like it to be this way. So, if I’m less on the spotlight and less in the mix of the drama I prefer that.

The Israeli-born estate agent mused: ‘You know, you can be the star and you can maybe get more articles in the magazine and all that stuff. It can also destroy your career, so I have to be very careful.

‘I do a legit career and stable life, so they [the producers] position me in that way [as nice and genuine]. And maybe because they knew I wasn’t going to give too much craziness to the mix.

Careful! 'You know, you can be the star and you can maybe get more articles in the magazine and all that stuff. It can also destroy your career, so I have to be very careful'

‘To be fair, there’s enough anyway, Christine obviously gained a lot of interviews and articles because she’s got such a no-nonsense attitude and she’s clearly not scared to say anything, is she?

‘Yeah, she can throw all of us under the bus, but she says things and I think she’s very impulsive, and that’s fine. She wants to ride the success; she wants to get the great PR and that’s fine.

‘But, you know, she also makes the show because she’s very fun to watch and she’s great and entertaining. But if I would want to have more articles and PR trust me, I could say a lot of things, but I keep it more to life.’

Discussing whether Christine is different off-camera than she appears on Selling Sunset, Maya admitted: ‘I think she does have an ego!’

‘But you know, I think she’s more calm and quiet in real life. I think when the cameras are rolling, she does love the attention and she just rides it,’ confessed Maya.

‘I think she’s very smart, she’s honest and she’s also blunt. I think some stuff she can definitely avoid saying that are not necessary, but she does make the show so… I guess you have to be this way to get some publicity.’

Talking about Christine’s dramatic wedding entrance with the snow, an alternative black gown and the swans, Maya gushed: ‘I know the dress was gorgeous I loved it.

‘The wedding was amazing, the venue was spectacular. Yeah you saw it on the show but obviously it was like around Chrishell so there was some drama there too. The venue was amazing it was absolutely fun we all had a good time.

But of the snow which fell down, Maya admitted: ‘No, it was too much it was really at that point too much. It was wet on your head – it was like what the heck? No, it was fun we had a blast!’

Discussing Chrishell Stause’s shock divorce from actor Justin Hartley, which played out on the third season of Selling Sunset, Maya described it as being ‘pretty terrible’ for her co-star and insisted all cast members were equally supportive of her.

She said: ‘It was pretty terrible you know, let me tell you and we were all there for her to support her for sure including Davina by the way. But you know production choose to show certain cast members supporting I guess, more like Mary and Amanza.

‘With that being said, we were all there for here and unfortunately it sucks when you do a reality show.

‘When you do a reality show your life is exposed and it sucks, because on one hand you become this part of the show but it’s because you had an awful divorce in the public eye. Not ideal, but she’s doing much better.

Maya also confessed she found out about Chrishell’s blossoming romance with Dancing with the Stars’ Keo Motsepe via an email.

She said enthusiastically: ‘I actually just saw that she’s apparently dating someone. We only just got the email.

‘I mean it’s so funny because she posted a video on her working out with a guy. Then I did a clapping hand emoji on the workout video and then a couple of hours later and I’m like oh wait a minute that’s her new boyfriend. I am happy for her.’

Asked if anything on the show is manufactured, Maya insisted: ‘It’s not scripted. Sure, if production would want me to repeat something that they said or want us to discuss a topic they will tell us to do it.

‘But, they’re not giving us a script and telling me “hey you say that and she said this”. It’s not scripted… we just kind of say what we say.’

Discussing hanging out with her co-stars outside of work, Maya admitted: ‘With COVID-19 its very difficult right now to do anything.

‘I know the UK is bad, but the United States is probably worse. People don’t listen here.’

She said: ‘I was showing a house to Jennifer Lopez one time when she was dating an ex-boyfriend Casper because I knew Casper. And she was nice and polite.

‘I also don’t work with too many celebrities; Jason I know he worked with Orlando Bloom and other guys but no complaints as far as I know.

‘Some celebrities send their manager or financial advisor, or god knows all these people who work for them.

‘With people who care yes you have to sign an NDA. It came out in the news at the end that they bought a house, but it wasn’t from me. I do respect privacy.’

Although Selling Sunset is filmed in LA, it became a massive hit in the UK during 2020, when viewers binge-watched it during the first coronavirus lockdown.

And, Maya enthused at the idea of coming over to the UK, admitting: ‘I would love to come to London actually, it would be nice to be a celebrity there for one day because I know its huge, huge, huge in the UK.

‘You know, I know that Jason wanted to come to London during the summer but then COVID-19 obviously happened so that got cancelled.

‘I think it would be fun to do it, but I don’t know when, I think things will have to come back to normal then obviously we all have commitments and work schedule to do.

‘And if we will film the Fourth Season, I would assume it will be sometime around Spring or next Summer.’

The reality star also confessed she’s a fan of Prince Harry’s wife, saying: ‘I like the UK, I got to tell you guys, I like your I guess, previous Duchess of Sussex; I love Meghan Markle. I know people don’t like her, but I do like her.’

Asked about Harry and Meghan’s new home in Montecito, California, Maya admitted she thought they’d buy something more expensive!

She said: ‘You know it’s a great house, I know that they just also moved to Santa Barbara or stay there in an apartment.

‘It’s a great location, I mean they needed privacy and something more secluded so that’s perfect for them.

‘I read that it was a 14-million-dollar home I don’t know why I thought they’d spend more on it! I don’t know but let me say I would love to sell them something that’s for sure.’
