Their romance was fast and fleeting, but had a last impression.

And Kaitlynn Carter admitted she fell ‘deeply in love’ with Miley Cyrus during their summer’s long relationship in 2019.

The Hills: New Beginnings star admitted her two-month romance with the Wrecking Ball singer — which ended in September 2019 — took her by surprise, but she fell hard for her friend.

‘No one was more surprised that I was all of a sudden dating one of my girlfriends than I was,’ she said on the Scrubbing In podcast.

‘When I look back, I know that I had feelings for her that were maybe different from feelings I had for other friends. It was entirely unintentional, but I was very deeply in love with this person.’

After the pair split, Kaitlynn wrote an essay for Elle magazine, which helped her through the break-up and made her understand why heartbreak is said to inspire creativity.

‘All of a sudden all I wanted to do was create things,’ she said. ‘That Elle piece was one of those things that were super cathartic.’

Carter also discussed her past relationship with Miley Cyrus and revealed where she stands with ex Brody Jenner amid her new relationship with Kristopher Brock.

Kaitlynn’s romance with Miley came after she split from Brody Jenner in 2019, a year after they had married in an unofficial ceremony in Bali.

And while she was initially ‘really excited’ to shoot The Hills: New Beginnings with Brody, she thinks the reality show ultimately highlighted the problems in their relationship before they split.

‘It was hard filming the first season because — there were so many difficult things going in our lives that everything stressed us out,’ she said. ‘We didn’t want to share all these heavy things with the world [but] they get everything out of you. No secret is safe.’

Kaitlynn admitted she’s glad the pair have stayed friends despite their public breakup.

She said: ‘I think the reason he and I ended up getting married in the first place was because we were always such good friends. And that is something we’ve been able to salvage through our split.’

Kaitlynn is now dating Kristopher Brock, who she described as the ‘gayest straight man’ she knows and admitted things are ‘going very well’ and they have ‘a lot of feminine things in common’.

She added: ‘It’s the most seamless, chill relationship. ‘I’ve never had a relationship that was just easy. I feel like he’s the first adult that I’ve ever dated.’
