NeNe Leakes calls for a BOYCOTT against The Real Housewives Of Atlanta

After alleging she had been pushed out of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, NeNe Leakes is calling for fans to boycott the hit Bravo series.

‘Y’all ready to stat this boycott yet? What has happened behind the scenes is WRONG! While others were being promoted, BLACK WOMEN who created shows, created genres, built franchise and built networks were being DEMOTED… TURN OFF YOUR TV’S,’ the reality star, 53, tweeted.

She followed it up with another tweet urging followers to take action against the show.

‘Sign the petitions when you see them, repost the boycott flyers when you see them, turn off your TVs,’ she tweeted.

Leakes announced her departure from the show over the fall, but as rumors continued to swirl about her exit, she clarified she was not fired from the series but instead ‘pushed out.’

‘I left because I was being pushed out,’ the star told Extra in October, adding: ‘If you are working at McDonald’s, working 40 hours a week, they drop you down to 20 hours, they drop you down to 15, they drop you down to 10, it’s obvious that they want you to quit.

‘Something is very wrong with going from 18 or 23 episodes down to six… In the last four to five years, it has been less and less… Things just didn’t feel fair.’

She also told ET Online: ‘I left the show. I had an offer on the table. I did not think the offer was a fair offer.’

Leakes announced on YouTube in September that she was leaving, months after the new season began filming.

She told her fans: ‘I have been on an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation. There has been a lot of emotion flying from both sides. It has been hard.

‘And I have made the very hard and difficult decision to not be a part of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Season 13. It wasn’t an easy decision for me. It was hard.’

The Glee actress briefly deleted her Instagram back in August, when her 3.6million followers kept demanding an answer about her return.

Bravo confirmed the news in a statement to Variety: ‘We wish Nene all the best in her future endeavors and thank her for sharing her journey for over a decade with the fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

‘She’s been instrumental since the start and will truly be missed, and maybe one day she’ll hold the peach again.’

Leakes most recently fired back at the network and Andy Cohen over systemic racism, after he discussed her exit with Wendy Williams on Watch What Happens Live.

Williams said when asked if she thinks Leakes is permanently leaving the show: ‘I believe that this is not a truth… NeNe has quit the show several times and you’ll have her back.

‘NeNe likes attention, dramatic attention. I don’t know what NeNe’s going to be doing for money, I’m not trying to count coins, but the Housewives is that one thing that all the girls use to promote their other stuff.’

The Broadway actress hit back on Twitter: ‘They ALWAYS manipulating black women to say negative things about each other while they sit and enjoy us tearing each other down! Remember #BLM Remember #breonnataylor REMEMBER the most racist networks’

She also posted a photos of fellow Housewives stars Kyle Richards (Beverly Hills), Ramona Singer (New York) and Teresa Giudice (New Jersey), who are all returning to their shows.

Leakes wrote: ‘We strictly talking the OG’s. I was the ONLY BLACK OG. My white counter parts were elevated and given full season episodes EVERY season. Each season i was given less & less. Don’t ask me, @ Andy and @ Bravo and ask them why’

She added in another post: ‘So much you guys just don’t know! I’m going to bed now! The systemic racism is greater than you will ever know’

The New Normal actress even threatened legal action, writing: ‘They gone leave my name outta these shows. Send me your best discrimination attorneys info to [email protected] ITS WAR’

She commented on the tweets to Extra: ‘This is a conversation that he and I and people involved are going to have to deal with behind the scenes. All I can do is take you back to one of my old sayings, ‘I said what I said.’

Leakes also discussed her conflicting emotions toward Cohen with ET Online: ‘Well, I thought that we had a relationship and a great relationship. But maybe we didn’t. I don’t know.

‘You know, you don’t turn off your feelings for someone because you had an argument. I’ve always loved Andy like he was a family member of mine. I worked with him for a very long time so I have a lot of love for him, so, you know, you can’t just turn your feelings off because you had an argument.’

‘It is heavy. It’s public and it’s heavy. But, I’m gonna be fine. It’s just a lot. You know, I’m gonna get through it.’

Cohen previously bid farewell to Leakes in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing: ‘Nene Leakes is an icon of the genre. She is a gif and catchphrase machine. In 11 years of #WWHL, Nene has been our most frequent guest, and she is always A BLAST. Nene nicknamed me ‘Buttercup’ the first day we met, and still calls me that today.

‘Through her whole run, she has always had a serious concern and drive to maintain the success and well-being of #RHOA. I am going to miss Nene on the show, but I’m hoping we work together again soon and will remain in each other’s orbits forever. XO, Buttercup.’

Leakes has received support from several celebrities since her exit, including Garcelle Beauvais, who recently became the first Black cast member in RHOBH’s 10 seasons.

Amid the news that Denise Richards and Teddi Mellencamp were leaving her show, Beauvais extended an offer to Leakes on Twitter: ‘@NeNeLeakes come help a sista out #RHOBH’

But Leakes doesn’t appear to be interested, telling Extra: ‘I am not going to return to Housewives, that’s not what this is about… If I wanted to return to Housewives, I could have. I had an offer… I am very hopeful that we can work our relationship out behind the scenes without everyone being involved.’

Leakes has been a huge part of the Housewives franchise since 2008, starring on Real Housewives of Atlanta for the first seven seasons, later returning as a regular in season 10.
