Football fans have taken to social media to share pictures of the worst food they have been dished up on a matchday, including a giant sausage in a tiny bun, a hollow hot dog and a pie burnt to a crisp.

A West Ham United supporter began the backlash against football ground grub after he shared a snap of an enormous charred sausage – three times as long as its roll.

Twitter user, Elliot, asked: ‘What’s the worst food you have had at a football match? Here’s mine.’

The post attracted thousands of replies from supporters posting pictures of their nightmare nosh from around the globe.
