Colin Jost cracks joke about wife Scarlett Johansson and her controversial casting choices in hilarious Weekend Update segment

Scarlett Johansson and her controversial casting choices became the butt of a joke cracked by her own husband, Colin Jost, on Saturday Night Live.

‘It was announced that Creed singer Scott Stapp will play Frank Sinatra in an upcoming movie,’ Colin said on Weekend Update.

‘But the good news is Sammie Davis Jr. will be played by Scarlett Johansson,’ he added, before burying his face in his hand.

The joke was actually written by Colin’s costar Michael Che as part of the Weekend Update’s annual Christmas Joke Swap segment.

The segment sees Colin and Michael write each other offensive jokes, which the comedians do not see until reading it live on air.

The awkward crack was relatively tame compared to the other offensive remarks the comedians said on camera.

In addition to the Scarlett remark, Colin and Michael wrote jokes about Jeffrey Epstein, Rosa Parks, and the Hocus Pocus sequel.

But it was the joke about Scarlett that made headlines and definitely produced the most laughs.

Scarlett controversially landed the role of an Asian character in the film Ghost In The Shell, a movie adaptation of the manga of the same name.

She also sparked uproar after landing the role of Dante ‘Tex’ Gill, a transgender man, in Rub & Tug. She subsequently withdrew from the role.

Colin married Scarlett in October 2020 following a year and a half long engagement.

The two started dating in 2017 and then became engaged in May 2019. He presented her with an 11-carat engagement ring which she flashed in July while at San Diego Comic-Con.

The marriage marks the third time Scarlett had said ‘I do’, but a first for Colin.
