Demi Lovato reveals ‘the best part of being single’ after ending two-month engagement to Max Ehrich

Demi Lovato is embracing the single life after calling off her two-month engagement to actor Max Ehrich.

On Saturday the 28-year-old Confident singer revealed what she deems the best part of being single in an Instagram story.

There, she wrote: ‘The best part about being single is knowing that my happiness is coming from no other person than myself.’

Debuting an icy blonde pixie cut after going even lighter with her newly short tresses, Lovato seemed to be embracing a fresh start.

The singer made headlines over the summer after she got engaged to The Young and the Restless actor in July – only to end the relationship in late September.

The duo started dating in March and the destination of their whirlwind romance seemed destined for marriage as they immediately started quarantining together.

‘I knew I loved him the night I met him. So a week later we went into quarantine. I was like, ‘Look, we’re quarantining together. Um, cause I love you,’ she said in an interview.

He swiftly proposed after four months together and she gushed, that he made her the ‘best version’ of herself.

The happiness was unfortunately short lived as she started to feel he was using her and the relationship went downhill.

Ehrich was traveling to Atlanta to work on a project and Demi opted to go with him but tension started to build and she left to get a clear head.

A source told E! News, ‘She didn’t know who Max truly was and didn’t think he had good intentions. She doesn’t trust him and thinks he’s sketchy.’

Prior to breaking off the proposal Ehrich was seen lusting after other celebrities including Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande on social media, something which made Lovato feel the relationship was a disingenuous ploy for attention all along.

After Demi called it off Ehrich was seen over-dramatically crying on the beach, in what appeared to be a stages photo-op.

Joking about the failed engagement in her monologue at The People’s Choice Awards she said:  ‘I went into lockdown mode, and got engaged…I binged seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, got unengaged, then went looking for aliens in the desert.’

Ehrich then spoke out about her monologue and commented on a photo of her: ‘Stop talking about me on award shows. Thanks. Exploiting our breakup for clout at PCA is not chill.’

One week after the split – which he claimed he found out about from tabloids – he accused her of using the breakup to boost sales for her new song Still Have Me.

Going live on Instagram he said, ‘I was in love. The whole world should f***ing know it. I thought I found the real deal, now I found out that I was used.’

He continued, ‘I hope the song is number one, because you know what, if that’s what someone wants in the material world, here you go, you have it. I hope this makes you happy. Enjoy. You just lost someone who loved you fully, completely, infinitely, for everything.’

On Saturday – potentially in response to Demi’s social media story – he cryptically posted a screenshot of the definition of ‘loyalty,’ and wrote a bunch of exclamation marks on the post.
