Pamela Anderson and Warwick Capper top list for most complained about 2020 adverts

Pamela Anderson and footy legend Warwick Capper top the list for the most complained about adverts of 2020 – as their Ultra Tune commercial is criticised for its treatment of women

Pamela Anderson and Australian sporting icon Warwick Capper have topped a rather unique list for 2020.

According to the Sunday Herald Sun, Ad Standards received 315 complaints for the pair’s Ultra Tune advert.

The advert which was filmed on the Gold Coast in November last year, was criticised by many for issues to do with nudity, and its degradation and vilification of women.

Criticism: Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson (centre), 53, and Australian sporting icon Warwick Capper have topped the list for the most complained about adverts of 2020, with their Ultra Tune advert (pictured)

In the commercial, Pamela, 53, who portrayed sexy lifeguard Casey Parker on nineties hit series Baywatch, recreated ‘the run’ from the iconic show.

The mother-of-two slipped her jaw-dropping body into a black wetsuit for the advert, which she starred in alongside former Australian Rules footballer Warwick, 57.

‘Pamela Anderson?!’ he exclaims, infuriating his other half and crashing the buggy into the sand.

Things escalate for Warwick, who soon comes face-to-face with a colossal wave – causing Pamela to roll her eyes and say: ‘Here we go again…’

Pamela is then joined by a group of five equally as stunning bikini-clad babes, who all take part in the iconic slow-motion run to rescue Warwick from the ocean.

Classic: Pamela was often seen running down the beach in slow motion during her stint on Baywatch, which she starred in between 1992 and 1997

Despite wanting mouth-to-mouth resuscitation from Pamela, Warwick instead comes face-to-face with an Ultra Tune worker.

‘You’re not Pamela!’ he says, before smiling and saying: ‘Ahh, well!’

Ultra Tune’s adverts have been known to be controversial in the past, previously starring the likes of Charlie Sheen and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Women in the adverts are often depicted as damsels in distress – but chairman Sean Buckley previously told the Gold Coast Bulletin he believes ‘the girls saving the man’ will ‘resonate with the audience’.

‘We have spun the whole ad concept around so the girls are saving the man,’ he said.

‘I think Capper is brilliant – he has a lot of charisma. Pamela is amazing and looks really good, she’s like a spring chicken.’
