Maren Morris cancels RSVP Tour due to COVID-19 pandemic amid announcement she’s working on third studio album

There’s some bad news and good news for fans of Maren Morris.

The Grammy winner, who had already postponed her RSVP Tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has now canceled the tour altogether because of the uncertainty over when music venues will be allowed to re-open again. 

But on the up side: Morris has been working on a new studio album, which means fans will likely get to hear brand new music when she’s able to safety hit the road again.

‘Hi Darlings,’ the Texas native, 30, began a statement she posted on social media on Friday, December 18.

‘There is so much hope with this vaccine being distributed in 2021, but we are still unsure of when we will be able to do the tour next year.’

‘With the prospect of, yet again, rescheduling half of the dates already becoming a reality, I have decided to cancel the RSVP tour,’ the singer explained before adding that customers with tickets will receive ‘a full refund from the point of purchase.’

The My Church singer went on to thank the fans for their ‘patience’ and reveal that she filled up some of her new found extra down time off the road writing new songs.

‘I am in the midst of working on my third record, so I hope we all can come together and enjoy live shows safely again soon.’

‘Love you so much, M,’ she concluded.

During the nine months since COVID-19 virtually shut down the live music industry, Morris has been able to play a handful of events including when she sang at a virtual concert series for members of Verizon Up and at the CMAs in November.

In an interview with People magazine, Maren elaborated of the inspiration behind her writing frenzy in the days and weeks after the coronavirus was deemed a pandemic in March.

‘I’ve been writing a lot since my son was born, and I love songwriting — it’s my first love,’ she explained of her baby boy Hayes Andrew Hurd, who was born on March 23, 2020, whom she shares with husband and country artist, Ryan Herd.

‘I feel a little bit freer writing right now because there’s no deadline; there’s no timeline.’

The upcoming album would be the singer-songwriter’s first since — Girl — was released in March 2019. It features the singles Girl and Common, featuring Brandi Carlile, and The Bones.
