Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew dotes on daughter Molly as she celebrates her first birthday – after her refreshing confession about her ‘marvellous’ first night away from her tiny tot

She’s a doting mother to daughter Molly, who she welcomed with husband and fellow journalist Neil Varcoe, in December last year. 

And on Friday, Edwina Bartholomew celebrated her daughter’s first birthday with family and friends. 

Posting to Instagram, the 37-year-old Sunrise weather presenter shared a series of adorable videos and photos from the fun-filled party.

‘The happiest sausage in Sydney turned one today. Happy Birthday Molly,’ she captioned the post. 

‘Thank you for being the best Christmas present we could have ever wished for. I have so loved being your Mum, being perpetually covered in pumpkin and even being so bone-tired at times I felt completely bonkers. Still am and still do.’  

Accompanying the post, the mum-of-one shared a short clip of Molly clapping along as everyone sings ‘If You Are Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands.’

In one image, the tiny tot is smiling as she posed with her parents in front of a delicious-looking birthday cake.

Posting to her Instagram stories, Edwina also shared a throwback photo from the day Molly was born, which she then compared to a similar black and white photo of her now. 

It comes after Edwina shared a refreshingly candid confession on Friday, about the first night she spent away from her daughter. 

In a op-ed for The Daily Telegraph, she revealed that she isn’t ‘ashamed to say it was marvellous’.

‘Being a parent can be suffocating sometimes, no time to yourself and the door to the loo always open,’ she wrote. 

‘I’ve had one night away from her this year and I’m not ashamed to say it was marvellous.’

However, she did admit that at the end of the evening she did end up ‘scrolling through’ photos of the adorable tot.
