Big Brother’s Bree Amer says ‘Christmas is cancelled’ due to the Northern Beaches Covid-19 cluster  

Former Big Brother star Bree Amer has shared her heartbreak over her Christmas plans being ‘cancelled’ due to the growing cluster of covid cases on Sydney’s northern beaches.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has ordered 270,000 residents from the Spit Bridge to Palm Beach to stay at home for at least three days while officials scramble to identify the source, although there isn’t an official lockdown in place. 

The mother-of-two wrote: ‘What a day to live in the northern beaches… Thanks Rona,’ along with the middle finger emoji.

She then added: ‘Christmas is cancelled.’ 

Bree, who is now a TV producer, is based in the northern beaches area with her husband Evan Wilkes, also a TV producer, and their children – son Hunter, three, and daughter Harlow, one.

Sydney’s Covid-19 outbreak has grown to 28 cases after testing on Thursday identified 10 more cases linked to the cluster on the northern beaches. 

The mystery outbreak was identified on Wednesday afternoon when a couple in their 60s and 70s tested positive after having visited nine venues across the northern beaches instead of self-isolating while awaiting their results.  

Meanwhile, Bree rose to fame as a runner-up on season four of Big Brother Australia in 2004, and later returned as a TV host on Friday Night Live games between 2005 and 2008.

Speaking of her Big Brother experience to Daily Mail Australia earlier this year, she said: ‘I was 21, I was single, no kids, no responsibility, no huge career or anything. All I wanted out of it was a life experience and that’s what I got.’

In 2011, Bree used her expertise on reality TV to become a casting director and producer for popular Australian television shows.

She met her TV producer husband Evan Wilkes on the job, and married him in 2015.
