Chelsea defender Reece James reveals Christmas gifts he was giving to charity were stolen, with the window of his Mercedes G-Wagon smashed while he served food to hungry children

Reece James has revealed his anger and frustration after heartless thieves broke into his car to steal presents he was planning to hand to hungry children.

The Chelsea defender was working with the Felix Project, a charity which aims to tackle food wastage by instead diverting food to the needy.

But when returning to his car to retrieve presents he was planning to hand out, the 21-year-old found his window had been smashed in with the contents stolen from his vehicle.

James posted the shocking damage to his car on Instagram, as he shared his dismay with followers.    

He captioned the picture: ‘Another rewarding experience with the Felix Project today serving meals to the younger generation.

‘Hopefully we spread some joy ahead of a challenging Christmas period.

‘Unfortunately, I was met with huge disappointment when returning to my car.

‘During the event, someone felt the need to break in and steal gifts that I was due to go and donate later in the day. What goes around comes around.’

As well as his admirable work off the pitch, the full-back has been impressive on it too having emerged as a regular starter under Frank Lampard this term.

James has started all but two of the Blues’ Premier League encounters this term as the west London side look to put together a title challenge.

In addition his form has landed him a first England cap under Gareth Southgate, earning two more since as he looks to book a place at next summer’s European Championship.
