Rebecca Judd denies she was fired from the 3pm Pick-Up radio show during an emotional last episode – as she ‘takes a break from media’ to spend time with her family

Rebecca Judd announced her departure from KIIS FM’s 3pm Pick-Up radio show last month after four years on the air.

And on Tuesday, the 37-year-old AFL WAG denied she was fired from the radio show, during an emotional last episode.

After confirming it was her final episode on radio, Rebecca’s co-host Monty Dimond explained: ‘Bec has decided to spend more time with her family next year and when you hear that you think “they totally got fired” but she definitely didn’t.’

Monty went on to say: ‘She is walking away to spend time with her family and other endeavours.’

‘That’s right, I fired you,’ Rebecca joked.

Rebecca had hosted the daily radio program alongside Monty for two days a week, while Yumi Stynes sat in her chair for the other three days.

At the end of the episode, Rebecca’s husband Chris Judd and their son Oscar also sent her an emotional message.

‘Well done mum for being on the radio for such a long time and making your friends laugh including me. You still owe me that Sam Smith interview,’ Oscar said.

Chris added: ‘Well done Bec on your last two years on radio. You’ve done a great job along with the other co-hosts. But one thing I won’t miss is doing something stupid around the house and watching you giggle and knowing I’ve just provided you with content for your show.’

‘Looking forward to the unitivity. I know you’ll miss it but plenty more adventures to come,’ he said.

Rebecca announced she was quitting KIIS FM’s 3pm Pick-Up radio show after four years on the air in November.

She will be replaced in the afternoon time slot by comedian Kate Langbroek in 2021  the Australian Radio Network confirmed.

An ARN spokesperson said that Rebecca was leaving the show because she wanted to ‘take a break from media in the new year’.

Rebecca had joined KIIS FM’s 3pm Pick-Up in 2017 alongside Yumi, replacing Monty’s former co-host Meshel Laurie.
