‘It does hurt a little bit’: Ranvir Singh has admitted she is diappointed not to be have made the Strictly Come Dancing final this weekend

‘I couldn’t believe how far I had got, to be honest. To get so close and to not make the final, it does hurt a little bit,’ she explained to Lorraine.

‘I think it’s just a build-up of a lack of sleep and working, and then obviously I have got a son to go home to so I couldn’t really train until 10pm. I needed to go home, that’s my job, my main job is being a mum so it’s a lot of juggling but it was amazing to do.’

There have been rumours about Ranvir and Giovanni’s close relationship during their time together, with Lorraine commenting that there will be a bond between her and Giovanni that will always last.

Ranvir agreed, saying: There is. I think it’s because he had to find out a lot about me that went beyond just learning a routine and vice versa really.’

‘I found out a lot about him because there was a point where the way he wanted to teach me was making me feel sort of like, ‘Gosh i don’t think I can do this!’ And then he, bless his heart, softened his teaching methods for me, less stick more carrot.’

‘Then I was like, ‘Okay, I can do this’. It was lovely and it was so kind of him to change his teaching methods in order to make me feel more comfortable. I have enormous respect for him.’

‘He has got very high standards, has Giovanni, he is all about perfecting. He wants you to be as good as you possibly can… He was like ‘Pull you shoulder down’ and it’s actually quite physically challenging to hold that position for that long!’

‘You have to be in a lot of discomfort… He was just like ‘That’s not good enough’ for hours and hours and hours but I did respond to it. If it was up to me I would have had a tea break every 20 minutes!’

Ravir then spoke about why she struggled with the Latin dances more than the ballroom routines, claiming it was about body confidence. She explained: ‘The Latin dances so take a lot more body confidence than ballroom. You are going, ‘Hey, look at me!’ and I am not there yet. I think the thing that was holding me back was I just felt embarrassed.’

On the support she has had, especially from female viewers, she said: ‘The messages are so beautiful. ‘You have made me feel braver, I feel inspired, I want to do something more for me, I have realised that you can be confident in one part of your life but completely insecure in another part of your life.’

‘That inner conflict that women have of appearing to be holding it together in one place and then you are exposed in another way. All of a sudden all of your insecurities are totally on the surface, and we avoid that situation. I have avoided that situation for years.’

As for who she would like to win on Saturday, Ranvir revealed she has a soft spot for Bill Bailey: ‘I saw Bill on It Takes Two and I did say to him, ‘Come on, you have got to do it for us oldies.’ Because if I had won it, I would have been the oldest and if Bill wins it, he would be the oldest ever to have won it.’

Now her Strictly stint is over, Ranvir announced the exciting news that she will be presenting Lorraine next week while the host is on holiday.

‘I am so excited,’ said Ranvir, who will be hosting the show on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week, while Andi Peters will return from his summer stint to host the Christmas Eve show.
