Lisa Wilkinson can’t stop smiling as she interviews her ‘boyfriend’ George Clooney on The Project… and even her co-hosts joke she was ‘glowing’

He’s known to be one of the world’s most desirable men, and was previously voted People’s sexiest man alive.

And even TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson couldn’t hide her giddiness during an interview with George Clooney on Wednesday night’s The Project, days after she joked he was her ‘boyfriend’ live on air.

The 60-year-old host spoke to the Hollywood heavyweight about his new movie, The Midnight Sky – and admitted to her co-hosts shortly after the chat that she ‘didn’t hide’ her excitement well after finally coming face-to-face with George via zoom.

After a giddy few minutes with George, Marc Fennell quipped to Lisa: ‘You were glowing. You were totally glowing!’

To which she responded: ‘I didn’t hide it very well, did I!’

Marc replied: ‘You can’t hide it at all,’ as the rest of the team broke into laughter.

Moments prior to the interview, Lisa giggled: ‘…I don’t know if I’ve mentioned but I sat down with George Clooney!’

On The Sunday Project, the veteran journalist jokingly referred to megastar as her ‘boyfriend’ when discussing the ‘sexiest man alive’ live on air.

But ever the professional, Lisa did a fantastic job speaking to George about his new sci-fi outing which follows Augustine, a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

‘Between the pandemic, four years of the presidency of Donald Trump and the effects we are now seeing of climate change… I’m wondering what you would like audiences to take away from the film, given that it’s set in 2049 in a post-apocalyptic Planet Earth?’ Lisa asked George.

‘Well, you know, it’s a funny thing, it’s post-apocalyptic but it’s very hopeful,’ he replied. ‘I really truly am an optimist.’

George went on say he believes in mankind, and eventually it figures things out.

‘We had an election and we have a new President coming in on January 20th, so we are starting in the right direction.’

The Midnight Sky will stream on Netflix from December 23
